Work
I don't usually blog about my job. Not because I don't like it, actually I love it. I hear people talk about being in a job or profession that does not suit them and I have not experienced that feeling in this line of work. For those of you who don't know me well, I work for child protection in Boise. I enjoy difficult people and enjoy being a social worker. I loved having contact with the clients and when I was promoted in 2005 I found my enjoyment did not cease with the cessation of the contact with clients. I have always been very secure in my job knowing that what my department does is mandated by law and has federal money attached to it. Lately, with the condition of the economy, we have been hearing more and more about layoffs and our governor stated to the media earlier this week there will be 100 layoffs here in the near future. Also discussed was a four day work week for some departments. I can't help but to feel very glad for my department due to our work being considered critical and would take a lesser blow in the scheme of things but want to remember there are at least 100 people out there who will be without jobs and most probably with families to support. My thoughts and prayers go out to them this evening.
