Snake in the Grass

I saw my first sighting of the year of the garter snakes. For the first couple of years we lived here I was blissfully unaware of the snakes that we share our yard with, then one summer we had some sighting that made me afraid to walk in the yard barefoot. I hadn't seen any for the last couple summer and let my guard down when there was a sighting today. I just don't love them and I hate to be startled by them.
