Mother's Day
Today was a lovely Mother's Day, not quite as lazy as I would have hoped but that wa. s my own fault. I woke up to the birds singing and shortly after I sat up in bed a very cute 7 year old brought me breakfast in bed complete with coffee and a vase of flowers she had picked from our yard. We snuggled up and ate our breakfast while watching a movie. I got presents and a wild hair to get some long over due work done on the yard. We laid down ground cover and bark in one of our sections of landscaping. It looks so good we are going to do another one next weekend.
Thanks to my mother for everything she has done to mother me. Her consistency, love, kindness and most of all, her example. She works hard and is commited to doing a great job in everything she does. She is able to let her children lead their own lives without interference and is even reluctant to give advice even when asked. I am seeing as I get older how hard it is to let your children make some of their own decisions and thus their own mistakes even on a small scale. But, it is so valuable to developing their sense of self and believe me there is nothing like the lessons you learn from making mistakes!
Ok, enough rambling. I love you, Mom. You are the best, the example I hope I come close to.
