Conference

The first day of the conference was wonderful and hearing Bruce Perry speak was great.  Bruce Perry says healthy children happen in rhythm and relationships.  The rhythm that is reminiscent if the heartbeat they heard in utero and relationship that is where they feel safe with a caregiver.  My idea is to ask mothers whose infants are in foster care to take their resting heart rate so we can provide the information to the foster parent so they know if the child is accustomed to a quick heartbeat and then would be soothed by a quick bounce in a step when rocking.  Those mothers whose resting heart rate is slower, their infants would be soothed by a slower rhythm.

This evening we went to a restaurant called the Chart House.  I had lettuce wraps, clam chowder, crab tater tots and my new favorite thing ever... cream of crab soup.   The meat was still in chunks in the soup but it was in a cream sauce with sherry and some delightful spicyness.

McKayla was kind enough to wake me up at 10:40 last night to let me know she had a headache and needed me to come home!

This is a photo of the inside of the convention center.  All of the trees and buildings inside of the main building reminds me of the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville where we had a church convention once.
