I have to say two weeks off is the way to go in child welfare if you want to REALLY recharge your batteries and come back feeling refreshed. At one week I am still checking in on e-mail and care what is going on but sometime around that seventh day out of the office, it is different. O, don't get me wrong I am still checking my e-mail but the detachment has set in and I am just fine with not being the one to respond and handle things.
I am spending the day today getting our life in order to go back to work tomorrow. I am doing the laundry and cleaning. I am looking forward to a large pot of ham and bean soup for dinner tonight and some homemade bread to go with it.
The theme of this time off has been lice. I would not wish the plague of lice on my worst enemy. It is truly awful. After shampooing her hair 3 times in the past two weeks we are hoping the saga is over. I can't even count the number of loads of laundry I have done. I am ready to have this experience in my rear view window.
Long thick hair, an infinite number of loads of laundry, a hundred and twenty dollars, countless hours... equals a lice Christmas to remember!
Well I better get back to it, my bathroom isn't going to clean itself!

Bummer. Christmas for you was about lice. For me, the flu. I think I'd rather deal with the flu.
