I have come to discover one of the most difficult things about being a mom who works full time outside of the home is making sure our kids eat healthy meals. This book was featured on Oprah recently, and you all know how much I like Oprah! We bought the kid version at Barnes and Noble and I ordered the adult version used on the Internet. We had some good conversations with the kids over the weekend about healthy food choices. The full color pictures in the book made it easy to keep their attention and they looked through the whole book with Keith and I. This was Austin and Kristin, of course, McKayla certainly doesn't have that attention span.
My resolution is to not eat out more than once a week for dinner and once a week for lunch. I find this to be relatively easy and the lunch eating out only affects me. I don't have any residual guilt about introducing two meals of not-nutritious food to my child a week.
We don't eat out at all on the weekends because there is plenty of time to cook, during the week is more difficult working all day, making dinner, cleaning up from dinner, bath time, story time, bed time, and adult time if there are no other urgent things to attend to as well.
