I love productive days and today has been productive from the moment I got up until I sat down to blog. Which, by the way, I consider productive as well! After a little bit of exercise in the park this morning I pulled a BUNCH of weeds in our backyard. I was feeling a sense of urgency due to a work function being held in that same back yard here in a couple of weeks. There is nothing like having company to prompt a bit of much needed tidying up.

I got the last of my errands run, which included going to the bread store. I love going to the bread store. There is something to inherently satisfying about getting five loaves of bread for 5.70 instead of 12.00 to 15.00 at the grocery store. Very well worth the extra stop in my mind.

I bought Kristin's birthday present and wrapped it. I tooled around Target for a while looking for something worthy of spending the gift certificate I received from my mother for my birthday. No luck there. There are so many things I like and would like to buy at Target but when I have a gift certificate I feel the possibilities open up in a way that is overwhelming. I find myself wanting to buy something for the kids but know that the intention of the gift certificate was for me but trying to stick with that is hard.

Keith and I took the girls to the movie, Marmaduke, which was very cute and Kristin's pick for her birthday.

I am going to bake a cake and get dinner started here momentarily. I will be trying German chocolate icing for the first time as this was Kristin's request for her birthday cake. I have never tried to make it before because frankly I can't stand the stuff but I will give it a go for my lovely older daughter.
